I have ATT and its time to ‘reup’ my contract.?

I want a phone that I have the option of internet usage, specifically facebook, but one that only requires the data usage contract to start but can be canceled and then restarted later down the road when one is more financially able to swing it. I am also wondering exactly what I can do on facebook via cellphone– can I play the various games, i.e. farmville, cafe world, etc., or am I limited to status updates, etc.? I have thought about switching to a different company like Virgin Mobile, etc. but have saved up a LOT of rollover minutes so am hesitant to switch from AT&T without a good reason to.
