Can i use the Sim Card of my CDMA handset in another GSM handset?
i have been using a Cdma Phone for a long time now. the only problem with CDMA in India is non availability of good handsets. TRAI [- the Telecom regulatory body] doesnot allow retention of same no. irrespective of the network. i can not switch service provider, because my no. would change. there are a lot of phone options in gsm. I would like to have a gsm hand set with my CDMA card

In most countries CDMA devices either have no SIM card, or if they do, those are only in dual-mode phones, like the BlackBerry 8830 carried by Verizon & Sprint here in the US, only use the SIM when roaming on GSM networks outside the US. Some countries do have CDMA devices that use a Smart Card like a SIM called a UIM. In the case of the former, you may be able to do it, though you’d likely rack up a lot of roaming charges. If it’s a UIM, the answer’s going to be no.
